 Born
in New Orleans, Louisiana and have remained close by. I now live on the west bank side of the Miss. river. Not too far from New
Orleans, but far enough to enjoy my peaceful home. (STOP NOW, THIS GETS BORING, ZZZZZZZ....) During my childhood
years I was surrounded by books and comics. My parents owned
a New/Used book shop, but closed it after I finished high school. Times got rough. At the time I wasn’t into reading or writing.
Although, I would pick up a Archie, Richie Rich or even a scary comic for entertainment. But, reading a book, nope. Note me. Now, I’d love to have that book shop to go to everyday and bury my head into those great smelling pages.
Well, that’s how it goes.
Family:
Married with children.
And, I also have a few acres of stray wildlife that come and visit in the
dark and sometimes during the day. Such as Deer, rabbits, snakes,
alligators, raccoons, armadillos, and many birds and unknown things
I can’t name. New News: I just adopted two golden pups. They are keeping me super busy.
Career: During
the day (Monday through Friday) I work in construction, and I’m also a certified Construction
Documents Technologist. But, during my off hours I love to create
stories. Okay, during my on hours I like to create them too. (Shh…don’t
tell my boss.)
How I started writing: You’d
have thought growing up in a book shop that I’d started then,
and that would’ve made since, but only recently did I begin
writing right after hurricane Katrina hit. I was one of the lucky
ones that still had a standing home not flooded, and a job after the
storm. My office was flooded, but we still worked around it. Katrina
truly opened my eyes. Being surrounded by destruction, death, and
a city crying for help made me realize how short life was and to stop
wasting it. I’ve always enjoyed creating stories in my head,
but until this tragedy occurred I never took it seriously. Never put
it on paper. Now I do.
The Unknown and the power of love is what calls to me and always has.
I guess that is why I write paranormal thrillers with romance. I love
suspense and mystery as well, and include a mixture of it into my
stories. One day I’d love to give straight horror a try, but I’d
be afraid I’d scare myself. Living in the woods and an overly
scary imagination wouldn’t help. (Just found out, people say I do write scary, hmmm) But, on a serious note. I want to give a
special thanks to everyone that has helped me with critiquing. You
know who you are. And, you are special in my heart.
Things
that interest me besides writing: Reading of course. I also
like to swim, fish, and travel to new places. I love animals. I've been in a few movies as a back ground actress. Let's see what else, I like falling asleep
on the sofa with my husband while we are watching T.V., and spending
fun time with my daughters and two puppies. I enjoy hanging with friends when we get
the chance. My weakness is that I have a very "bad" interest in chocolate. I enjoy
learning from other people when it comes to writing. There's so
much to learn, and I hope to be able to return the help to others
as well. So, one tip for writers is join RWA or any writing groups out there. Don't think you are alone. Your not. |
